The Mandelbrot Set and The Ubiquity of Roughness

In layman's terms I refer

to the" world of fractals ".

From the Page >>>

Roughly speaking, fractals

are shapes that look the

same from close by and far

away.

Fractal geometry is famed (or notorious, depending on the source) for the number and apparent

diversity of its claims. They range from mathematics, finance, and the sciences, all the way to art.

What I wish to point out

here is we like to perceive

  nature as

  symmetric,harmonious,

  congruent, all the time

  denying the fact that

  roughness is ubiquitous.

This phenomenon of roughness has long resisted analysis, and fractals provide the first widely applicable

key to some degree of mastery over some of its mysteries.Learn more about the Mandelbrot set on my

recent research. Not only do these photographs provide precious data for studying unique substances

but also are a source of artistic inspiration.

           Earth Day 2008

Image Hosting by Picoodle.com

April 22 Earth Day marks the anniversary of the birth of the modern environmental movement

in
1970, a day the people of the world join together to address environmental issues on a world stage.

Without further much ado I will come straight to the point >>>>>

There are two questions facing us as individuals irrespective of any distinction made by society

               1) What can we do or how one can play an important role in this modern movement???

               2) Or for some why even bother???

For the motivated lot

amongst us, the ones

seeking the answer to

question 1 I have a

simple answer work at

the grass root level.

Identify the problems in your own society, the solutions will follow. Set an example and the

neighboring societies will follow your example and before you know a movement will be born.

To the "why bother" group I have another

question "Are you or are you not grateful

for your existence ???" If yes there is

nothing wrong in giving something back.

For the other lot I have nothing to say.

          Orca on the Hunt

Another epic drama of mother nature starring Orca & the Sea Lion

                      From the Page >>>

The park ranger gestured forcefully, ordering me to throw myself down on the sand and stay quiet.

Some sea lion pups paddled tentatively in the shallow surf, learning to swim at Punta Norte beach in

eastern Patagonia, and we were staring at the sea, watching for a huge black fin.

Orcas hunt baby sea lions on the Valdes peninsula, a natural phenomenon unique to the killer

whale group in this region.
Civilian visits are carefully orchestrated because experts fear human

intervention could affect the hunt, perhaps permanently.
